Bespoke Faux-Sisal Stair Runner Project in NW10

Project Overview

We transformed our client’s staircase and worked closely with their vision to bring it to life. The client selected the design and carpeting from one of our trusted suppliers - Alternative flooring. Then we got to work on cutting, shaping and fitting the popular Anywhere Ca-rPET; Re-Act Herringbone with a colour-matched whipped edge. 

Installation Process

The team followed the two-phased approach to installation. The first phase was particularly important as the client requested profile fitting for the runner, requiring highly skilled planning and preparation of the stairs and runner for a snug fitting.

On the second phase each flight of stairs required a different approach. We had to pay particular attention to the first flight of stairs as they had beading, which made forming tight profile edges difficult but not impossible. Overall the attention to detail of our highly skilled installation team delivered the client’s vision with this stunning result. 

Challenges and Solutions

A key factor in getting this installation right was profile-fitting the carpet as precisely as possible to the first flight of beaded stairs. Profile fitting is all about sharp lines and a form-fitted look. With beaded stairs, it can be difficult to achieve a clean finish as the beading makes it difficult to hide the fixing between tread and riser.

To overcome this our expert installation team decided to fully adhere the carpet so that we weren't solely reliant on the pins that would usually be used to create the profile look and fix the carpet in place.

Outcome

Overall the final finish of this project was clean and precise. The pink tones of the stairway worked brilliantly with the natural texture of the faux sisal and we were delighted with the result.
