Client Stories: A statement stair runner makeover
Project Overview
We recently had the pleasure of working with a client who had a clear goal in mind, to keep things simple while introducing boldness through colour. The client knew they wanted a stair runner and selected a striking, vivid blue carpet with matching whipping. This gave the bespoke runner a clean and seamless appearance. The result was a staircase and stair runner that blended beautifully with the home's interior, demonstrating how the use of bright colour can make a bold yet refined statement.
The Installation Process
After making initial contact through our online form, followed by a visit to our shop, the clients explored samples and shared their vision for the space. We then arranged a site visit to take detailed measurements and discuss how best to bring their ideas to life within the layout of the staircase.
Our team provided the client with quotes for three different options to help them compare finishes. The final choice was a Gala-Mask by Grosvenor Wilton, a 100% wool option from one of the UK's leading carpet manufacturers. This included a colour-matched whipped edge. A sample was prepared and approved to ensure the finish was exactly as envisioned.
The installation took place in two planned phases. This approach allowed time for the stair runner to be designed and ensured the fitting could be completed with minimal disruption. Each stage was handled with care, focusing on preparation and precision when it came to the final installation.
Challenges and Solutions
When a bold colour is used on a staircase, it’s important to get the balance right so it enhances the space rather than overpowering it. The colour-matched whipping was the best choice to compliment the stair runner without adding an additional element to the design, creating a look that stood out without disrupting the interior flow.
